We book a Private Villa in San Remegio, Cebu | Villa Elisea, A trip up North.

Have you ever been to the northern part of Cebu? One of the must-see places up north is the municipality of San Remegio, which offers pristine white sand beaches and spectacular sunsets. Aside from its breathtaking beauty, the place is also known to have the longest coastline in the whole of Cebu Province.

Now, imagine walking on that long stretch of fine white sand beneath your feet, feeling the cool breeze off the water, and seeing the sky filled with different colors as the sun meets the horizon. Isn't that a sight to witness? Out of all the many places to visit in San Remegio, I wanted to take you to Brgy. Anapog, where Villa Elisea is located.

Villa Elisea is a private villa by the sea. It’s perfect for big families or groups of friends who are looking for an exclusive beach and resort experience. A quick 2.5-hour drive away, approximately 103 km. from Cebu City.

The villa is designed to accommodate 16–20 pax. Guests can stay in four big, spacious rooms with a loft-style setting. Each room has 2 beds, plus mattresses are also placed in the attic. The rooms are also equipped with toiletries and towels, and each room has a private bathroom. Aside from the private bathrooms inside, there is also a common bathroom just outside the kitchen.

Villa Elisea also has a strong wifi connection, and each room has a dedicated workspace, or you can use the outdoor living room and get to live that digital nomad life in this private villa.

Apart from the spacious bedrooms, their deck overlooking the sea, which is where the dining table is set, is the highlight for me. You get to enjoy that private beachfront while you feast on your scrumptious meal. They also have a portable grill stand available. You can grill some meat while enjoying the view on the deck, or just sit there and appreciate the beauty of the place.

Villa Elisea also has a fully equipped, functioning kitchen. All the pots and pans are ready for use, and they even have a rice cooker and refrigerator available. We didn’t have to worry about the glass and plates as everything was provided. All we had to bring was our supplies for cooking. There is no corkage for food and drinks.

I would recommend buying all the items/food needed in Cebu City as one of the downsides of Villa Elisea is that it’s in a secluded area in Brgy Anapog with little to no stores nearby. Even the public market of San Remegio, which is located in Hagnaya, is about 8 km away. Prepare all of your necessities ahead of time so that all you have to worry about when you arrive is cooking.

Aside from the amenities mentioned above, they also have an air-conditioned gazebo with a beautiful interior of a living room with a kitchen, but it’s off limits as one needs to pay an extra $85 if you want to use it as we didn’t avail the complete house package worth $384.

Our overall stay in the villa has been a pleasant experience. I'd say it's worth it if you're traveling in large groups or for corporate events like team building or retreats, but it's not ideal for backpackers. What I liked the most about the place is that it's so quiet; you get to relax and take your mind off of anything. Although it was unfortunate that we were unable to witness the crystal clear waters during our stay, as the weather was not all sunny when we were in Villa Elisea.

The waves were big and very windy as a typhoon ravished parts of Luzon. The beachfront also has a lot of seaweed and other washed-away debris. However, this did not prevent us from entering the waters; we still had a great time, and hopefully, the weather will be in our favor on my next visit.

HOW TO GET THERE

Location : Brgy. Anapog, San Remegio
A little after Orongan Beach Resort and San Remegio Beach Club. If you are traveling from Cebu City, you can take a bus from North Bus Terminal and take off at the public market, where you can hire a tricycle to take you to Villa Elisea.

WHERE TO BOOK

We used AirBnB during our stay and paid around $242 for the night. They are also available on other online booking apps. There are two options for booking: one can rent out the complete beach house or just the three bedrooms. We opted for the 3-bedroom setup as we don’t want to stay in the indoor living room.

Here are the specifics on the $384 "Complete Beach House": It's a four-bedroom, eight-bed, six-bath, and access to a gazebo (indoor kitchen and living room), so basically it’s just the a/c gazebo that was added.

Guests can just directly check in with the caretaker. Check-in time is after 3 pm, while check-out time is noon. However, during our stay, the host granted us a late check-out as no other guests were booked for the following day, and we ended up leaving the villa at 2 pm.
