A Season Completed: Day Hike Therapist Turn-over Ceremony

The Hike for a Cause season has officially come to a close for our beneficiary in Pangpang, Barili, and what a beautiful way it was to end it.
Last February 7–8, the Day Hike Therapist (DHT) team, together with our volunteers and joiners, made our way to Pangpang, Barili to celebrate the turnover ceremony. A simple yet meaningful gathering that marked months of collective effort, purpose-driven hikes, and shared intention.
During the visit, we officially handed over school supplies, educational books and toys, play mats, a Smart TV. We also distributed slippers, had some fun games and prepared prizes for the kids. We also capped the day with a small feeding program.

Pangpang is a mountain barangay located in the municipality of Barili, around 3–4 hours away from Cebu City, Tucked away from the city’s fast pace, the community is rich in warmth and resilience, but like many remote areas, access to learning tools and resources remains a challenge, especially for young learners.

This initiative became possible through one of our DHT members who is originally from Barili and personally knows the daycare teachers. The daycare center, handled by Teacher Richelle and Teacher Jen, caters to nearly 30 two-year-old students and 30 four-year-olds. When DHT first visited and sat down with the teachers, they shared the realities of running the facility—limited resources, growing class sizes, and the need for tools that would make learning more engaging for the kids.

Among the identified needs were additional play mats and a Smart TV—a game-changer for early childhood learning. In today’s time, digital access plays a huge role in education, and having a Smart TV allows teachers to introduce visual learning, interactive activities, and creative lessons that make teaching more effective and fun for the kids.
This entire initiative took six months in the making—six months of planning, coordinating, and organizing multiple Hikes for a Cause, with a total of 139 joiners across different trails and weekends. Every hike, every step, every registration fee mattered.

To our joiners, supporters, donors, volunteers, and sponsors, this was never just a DHT effort. This was our collective win. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
This experience once again reminded us that when people come together with the same heart, small acts of kindness can create ripples far beyond what we imagine. You don’t need to do something big to make a difference. Sometimes, showing up, caring, and giving what you can is more than enough when it’s done from the heart.

For now, DHT will go quiet for a bit as we rest, reflect, and plan where our next mission will take us. But don’t worry—we’ll be back. And when the next set of activities opens, we’ll make sure you have something meaningful to join and look forward to again.
To the familiar faces, the new ones, and those who will find us in the future—thank you for walking with us through the years. Let’s keep the mission alive and continue helping communities here in Cebu, one day hike at a time.
