I recently stumbled upon Vienna Kaffeehouse while searching for a chill spot to unwind and catch up with my friends. The allure of the European-inspired interior, coupled with the promise of authentic Viennese and Austrian flavors, piqued our curiosity. As we stepped inside, we were greeted by the cozy ambiance of the place and a bonus live singer who was singing familiar Sunday favorites on a fine night—a perfect combination for our evening.

Did you know that Vienna Kaffehouse was founded in 1983 and was actually dubbed the first gourmet resto and café in Cebu City? They were also the first to introduce Viennese and Austrian dishes to the metro. Its rich history is reflected not only in its menu but also in its warm hospitality. It was just recently that I learned that their brewed coffee is actually an original house blend sourced directly from Austria, ensuring an authentic taste of Vienna with every sip.

It made me regret not ordering any coffee during our visit, being a coffee lover myself, but at least I will have another reason to come back aside from the perfectly delicious food they offer.

The menu at Vienna Kaffeehouse offers a mix of Viennese and Austrian favorites. The price range is actually fair compared to the size and serving of their gourmet dishes.

Personally, I loved the Wiener Schnitzel. During our visit, I opted to upgrade my rice to mashed potatoes for an additional charge of only 20 pesos. The creamy texture of the mashed potatoes perfectly complemented the crunchy yet tender breaded pork. The serving was so huge that I was unable to finish the whole plate and had to take home the other half of it. The spaghetti carbonara also hit the spot; it was creamy and, oh, so saucy, just the way I liked it. Although I am not a particular fan of their Original Vienna Toast.

On the left is the Wiener Schnitzel for only ₱285.00 plus an additional ₱20.00 if you would like to change the rice to mash potato, on the right is the Chicken Cordon Bleu for only ₱330.00.

They also have cold serving water available.

This Grilled Kotlett was also a winner for only ₱340.00 plus the choice to upgrade the rice to either mash potato or french fries.

Honestly I did not hear about Vienna Koffeehouse before and did not even know the rich history they have on Cebu restos as one of the pioneers in the business but I do hope more people will come and visit the place or write reviews in their FB page. Let’s make it a habit to support local and discover new places or old favorites every now and then.
