Mountain View Beach Resort - Where Relaxation meets Tranquility
Underrated—that's how I would define this place. Guiuan is popularly known for Calicoan Island, where the surfing spot is located, as well as the beaches in Sulangan. However, aside from these places, there are a lot of white sand beaches in Guiuan that are yet to be discovered. Come and join me as I take you on a virtual tour to one of those beaches.
Welcome to Mountain View Beach Resort.
Can't decide if you're a mountain person or a beach lover? Well, worry no more. I've got the perfect place for you. You get to enjoy the mountain view at your back and the beach up front. Mountain View Beach Resort got the best of both worlds.
The Wall of Guiuan
Guiuan is a typhoon prone area; it's always in the news headlines every time a storm is forming on the pacific side. Do you remember typhoon Haiyan back in 2013 which was one of the largest and strongest typhoons ever recorded? Guiuan was the first place where Haiyan made land fall.
The Wall of Guiuan is our natural barrier against strong typhoons. The wall of rocks covered by trees that stretch for kilometers facing the Pacific stand as our fortress. This is the view that will welcome you when you stay at Mountain View Beach Resort.

It's one of the first peaks I was able to conquer way back in 2015. The path descending the trail is so steep that we used ropes going down. Too bad I didn't have a decent photo back then.
This trail is what the fishermen from the hillside Barangays on the other side of the wall take on a daily basis for them to reach the sea. It's a struggle, but it's the shortest route, which saves them time compared to going to the town proper and taking another motorcycle ride to Dumrog.
White Sand Beach
Mountain View Beach Resort sure has that powdery white sand any beach lover is looking for. The place has a generous shoreline filled with soft, grainy, pristine white sand.
There are a lot of resorts that have started popping up like mushrooms in Dumrog area now. Almost every time that I go home in the province, a new resort opens. Slowly, tourism is coming back to life and sooner or later I know Guiuan will make it to the list of the must visit places in the Philippines.

If there is bar hopping, then in Guiuan, one can go beach hopping.
One can enjoy a walk on the beach and go from one resort to another in Dumrog - Dumpao - Sapao area all the way to Calicoan Island. Guiuan has a 7km stretch of blazing white sand, it is the longest municipal coastline in the Philippines that is surrounded by Pacific and Leyte gulf on both sides.
Mountain View Beach Resort is also new in Guiuan. It started operations in the midst of the pandemic in February 2021.

What's our final verdict for this beach haven?
PROS
- The place is not crowded, it's spacious, and has a calm and relaxing vibe.
- The place is well maintained. It's very clean, and the shoreline is also well maintained.
- The caretaker is accommodating and very friendly. It's quiet and perfect for relaxation. We were there on a Saturday, but only two cottages were occupied.
- Power sockets are provided per cottage, so you can charge your phone anytime.
- Each cottage has a free hammock. (No corkage.) You can also grill right on the beach.
CONS
- No signal in the area. Cellphone reception is little to none. No Wifi.
- The swimming area is only good for kids; there is no deep area for swimming, even on high tides. I'm 5'1 and the highest the water can get on a high tide is just above my waist. I won't recommend this place if you are just looking to take a swim.
All in all I give the place of personal rating of 8/10 only because I love a good swim, but if your just looking for a relaxing day on the beach with the warmth of that fresh sea breeze on your face while laying down on a hammock or sun bathing in that powdery white sand then this is the place for you.
That's it for today's blog, I hope you enjoyed and you are now looking forward to adding Guiuan in the list of places you would like to visit in the Philippines.
Cheers to more travel and nature adventure. Let's not be a stranger in our own land. Choose PH! Discover Philippines.
